Drotaverine is a spasmolytic agent which works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase IV (PDE4), an enzyme that plays a role in muscle contraction and inhibiting this enzyme,which helps relax smooth muscles, in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, and uterus and effectively relieves muscle spasms, especially in the digestive tract and the uterus which commonly used to treat conditions involving cramping or spasms, such as menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea), gastrointestinal discomfort.
Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID which works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, particularly COX-1 and COX-2, which involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins and reducing the production of prostaglandins, give relieves pain, reduces inflammation, and lowers fever which is particularly effective for managing acute pain (such as menstrual pain, headaches, and mild to moderate pain) and conditions associated with inflammation.
