Rifexil M Tablets – Rifaximin & Metronidazole Tablets contain Rifaximin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic, and Metronidazole, an anti-parasitic agent. Rifaximin mainly treats gastrointestinal infections like traveler’s diarrhea, IBS with infectious diarrhea, and liver encephalopathy. It works by binding to the beta subunit of bacterial DNA-dependent RNA polymerase enzyme and reducing the synthesis of bacterial RNA, leading to cell death. Metronidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that are responsible for causing infections. It inhibits protein synthesis by interacting with DNA.
